Movin' on Up, Moving on In...

love the house, especially the idea of putting a tree and village in the sun room!
My brother lives in a home on 5 acres of land, took them several years to get the house looking like they wanted. They raise their own meat (cows and chickens) of which I get the benefits of from time to time!
Praying everything settles down for you and your time of healing, rest and rejuvenation now take place.

Christmas Makes the House a Home

Best wishes to you and your family, my friend. I remember how tough it was to leave our first house and all the memories surrounding it.

But, as you pointed out, Christmas will make it all better. Just wait and see!

Christmas Makes the House a Home

Good luck with house hunting and the move, Jeff. You're very right, Christmas and holidays do make a home. I am sure it's so hard on you to have your kids leaving the nest. Mine are only 2 1/2 and 9 months and it's hard for me to be away from them, just when I am at work. Sounds like you've been a wonderful dad and they will do great on their own, but they'll be back!

    Finding Christmas

hi jeff. sorry to hear all that. kids. but guess like everything time moves for them to and they go from babies to kids to teenages to adults. and sometimes the journey is not what we wood like for them. they make choices and they might be the right or wrong ones.

    Christmas and Politics

Great story and message, Jeff. I really struggle with this topic. I have friends who are opposite that me in political beliefs but we just don't talk about those things and focus on what we do have in common.

The closest thing I do have to this kind of relationship is my parents, who I am very blessed to still have here on this earth. They are 93 and 86 and look and feel 30 years younger.

They are lifelong Yellow Dog Democrats. I've converted from being a Yellow Dog to being a conservative with compassionate capitalist leanings. They are the only people I know that will have peaceful discussions about political issues.

You know that I'm a homeschool and private school Dad. I've recently become somewhat of a homeschool activist because of a local court case where the judge gave custody of three children to the father and his parents because the mother homeschooled the children. I am firm in my belief that the best thing we can do for the public school system is make it compete with the other systems until it either totally fails or shapes up.

    Are we weird?

We are no weirder than fantasy football site members, cartoon lovers, you can find anything weird and it will be someones favorite thing. What truly is weird, is this guy basically pulled a "judge a book by its cover" thing by what looks like, by doing vague judgments on the websites. I for one will do the same, I will not read "The Atlantic" because I think it is weird.

A Year of Tradition Being Born

A toast to new traditions!!! Funny, my husband said the other day, why are we doing this (putting the one red candle among the white) I simply said, honey it's TRADITION!!!! And we both laughed, when did that start, I couldn't tell you, but here we are with the one red candle among the white we have a stand of 12 and we light one for each night of Christmas the Red one is 1st.
