Christmas in New York with Jay

Jeff I am so glad for your blog. You show me the way it should be done !!! MMC is much more than a website, it is truly a family and it is largely due to you and folks like Jayish, Radio Jon D and all the folks behind the scene. I am always honored to read your blog and I am honored to be part of MMC.

    50 Christmases

I just had a flashback of the scene in Christmas Vacation when Chevy is upstairs locked in the attic - watching the old reels and thinking of days and Christmases gone by....
Very touching writeup here....very much enjoyed...

    Sick of Silly Santas

There's a long and ignoble tradition of people using good names to sell bad acts and ideas. We see it in everything from knock-off designer jeans to politics to the church.

Wars have been launched, inquisitions held, and lives taken by men who attribute their actions to the will of God. Presumably, this is the same God I know: one who taught that, above all, we should cherish peace, hope and love.

I guess if God's name be taken in vain, we should expect no gentler treatment for the venerable saint who embodies so many of the qualities we love about Christmas.

Take heart, Jeff. Charlatans may prey on the name of Santa Claus. They may make lists. They may wear the suit. But they will always lack the light and love of Christ, which gives the saint his glow.

No one ever mistakes shadow for light.

As I mentioned to someone earlier in the week, his light burns all the brighter for the shadows that surround it.

I Am a Weepy Old Man

And now I too am a weepy old man!

Meeting Jeff and his lovely wife was one of the thrills of this year! They are real folks with real smiles and real love. And as Jeff described the card opening that he enjoys with his family, I could see myself there and laughing and celebrating...That's the kind of people they are...You immediately feel like family!!!

As I opened my cards, I too felt the love from across the miles from those who cherish the friendships they've made over the years, and those who celebrate the season of Christmas everyday!

God bless you Westovers! Because we are blessed to know you!
