First MMC Blog...

Posted 08-24-2009 at 03:21 PM by HollyJells

Wish I had started one sooner. I have started back to class and boy is my schedule tiring. but I will get used to it. I actually added a water aerobics class to my schedule so I am either crazy or bored. We will see how things go over the next few weeks. My one god-daughter starts first grade tomorrow and we are still trying to help her mother find a decent preschool for the little sister. The cost of a decent preschool is so outrageous these days. The mommy is actually considering doing most of it herself. I will be starting my holiday shopping in the next month or so. I love the season BUT absolutely can not stand the crowds. Especially those people in the crowds who have entitlement issues. They feel the world was put here for them and no one else. I plan on having all shopping done by the middle of September and then I will sit back and watch all those fools scrounging around for a last minute deal. I may sound cruel but I find it sort of funny and pathetic when people wait until almost...

We have watched a few Christmas films recently, cause the girls love them, as do i lol!. So now Julie my eldest (4yrs old) is singing Christmas songs hehehe!!.

I have been so tired lately, going to be trying a different diet soon *fingers crossed* the Cambridge diet, i am getting a information pack sent out tomorrow, which i will be excited to receive, i hope i can stick to it, and i will loose a good few pounds before Christmas comes, and feel better about myself, which would be amazing.

Starting & Adding to Your Christmas Music Library - A Primer

Posted 07-28-2009 at 11:30 AM by RadioJonD (Tinseled Musings from a Yule Tuned Mind)

When building a Christmas Music Library a few fundamentals are in order.

For liturgical Christmas fair, choose a series such as Collectibles ‘Ultimate Christmas’, ‘Readers Digest’, ‘Time Life Treasury of Christmas’ or ‘Now That’s What I Call Christmas!’ That would allow you to build a solid traditional base. The ‘Now’ series will also include a good mix of recent artists and tunes. Avoid buying more than one of these types of packages, as you will begin to duplicate and waste money rather quickly.

Rhino Records Christmas CDs should seriously be considered to add some of the forgotten classics that have reclaimed over the years. Many styles and many genres have been explored. Their ‘Hillbilly Holiday’ CD issue has been long out of print and contains tunes that have never since been on CD. Like Rhino, the Capitol Ultra Lounge Christmas Cocktails CDs have reclaimed forgotten sounds! Hip-O Records ‘Yule B’ Swingin’’ & ‘Yule B’ Swingin’ Too’ should also be considered....

Christmas in July -- in My World

Posted 07-12-2009 at 09:13 PM by Jeff Westover (A Merry Blog)

I teach a Sunday School class for 13 and 14 year olds at Church and today their lesson was on trials, weaknesses and humility.

I asked them a question that gave them pause -- "Tell me about a time when you experienced a trial -- What has been your greatest challenge?"

I think being a kid today is more of a challenge than ever. With drugs, pornography, a relentless assault upon the senses by technology and the pressures of mere conformity in an eroding society has kids feeling pressure like no other generation in the past.

Locally we have dealt with serious issues such as suicide, anorexia and prescription drug abuse amongst kids this age so I honestly felt like I asked a question that should have been easy to answer.

But they struggled with the question and candidly told me they just had nothing to compare in their experience with the trials of their parents and grandparents.

Still more surprising to me was the admission...
