When nothing seems right.

Posted 09-08-2011 at 11:32 AM by Lynn68 (Everything Christmas)

Sometimes, like today and yesterday, nothing seems right in my life. I'm pretty sure everybody has those days or weeks and they really suck. It started at work when I actually cashed a fraud check for someone. Man it looked real if I've ever seen a real check before!! I mean the person even had the pay stub attached. Then that evening I didn't balance in my register. What else???? Working for a bank can make you pull your hair out at times!! On my way home yesterday, I was waiting for the bus and was in my own world thinking about the bad day I had when the bus came. I always wait for people to get off the bus before I get in but as I said, I was in my own world so I got on as someone was trying to get out. I said I was sorry when I came back to reality and realized what I was doing, yet rudely the bus driver said to me "thanks for waiting for the person to get out of the bus first, ma'am." Now I was really upset. I didn' t say anything, I just sat down. It was a bad day and...

The Christmas Bug is Buzzing!

Posted 09-07-2011 at 09:06 AM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

With Christmas still more than 3 months in the future, and the decorating season 2 months away, I have been really bitten by the Christmas bug this year. I cannot wait for the season to begin this year, the fun, the parties, just that warm special feeling that is in the air all December long, it is a shame that feeling can't last longer throughout the year. I have mentioned before in my blog and in the forums how off kilter our spring/summer has been, but it is time to move on from that and focus on all things red & green, going to a few local gift shops this past weekend and seeing their Christmas decorations and smelling the Christmas candles has really stoked the "Christmas fire" in my belly. It has also really made me realize how bad I want to get this Christmas store going, but that is still years away at this point.

Why is Christmas so special to so many of us we feel the need to find it and live it everyday of the year?
There is nothing like...

Christmas Miracles.

Posted 09-05-2011 at 05:58 AM by MichelleluvsChristmas (Michelle's Christmas Blog!)

With seven minutes to go before I have to wake the children up at work, I thought I would quickly type this out as I found it to be pretty amazing. Here at my work (new workplace) I discovered what their Christmas routine is, as we are a shelter for homeless youth. Basically, all youth are welcome on the days leading up to Christmas Eve regardless if they are in our program or not. We cook numerous turkeys, and invite them all in to join us in celebrating the holidays. Through the gifts of many donors, these children will receive sponsorship's from another family, that will grant them their Christmas wish list. HOW AMAZING? I KNOW!. It really warms my heart and almost makes me cry, that this program goes above and beyond to create a sense of family, and a sense of belonging for these kids when they don't have anywhere else to go. Our youth who can only access from 10 pm to 7 am will wake up with stockings and gifts.. and I have a feeling that it will be a very beautiful Christmas this...

What is it about Christmas?

Posted 09-04-2011 at 07:54 PM by Lynn68 (Everything Christmas)

I've wondered most of my life what it is about Christmas that I find so special? What about it makes me giddy like a child? I mean I can never sleep past 5am Christmas morning. I can be seen sitting on the couch watching anything with a Christmas theme to it. Last year it was The Shopping Channel which had Christmas jewellery for the hour. The year before I watched a choir singing carols. I love waiting for the rest of the family to wake up and see that the tree lights are already on and smell the aroma of brewing coffee. But what is it that makes this time of year so exciting, so special, even before I sit in the Christmas tree lit living room watching people selling jewellery at 5am? We're not allowed to say Merry Christmas at work and the main streets are hardly decorated yet my heart is filled with excitement and joy just the same. The little things that do it for me are the homes decorated with so many assorted colored lights that you can't see the house! The department stores that...

A Holiday Downsizing

Posted 09-04-2011 at 06:28 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

As we screech past this Labor Day weekend, the holiday season is quickly approaching. This year we will be "downsizing" our gift lists outside of our immediate family, this was a tough decision to come about, but with everything that we have gone through this year, and add in things we have not been able to control like the tornado, flooding in the basement four times thus far we have been left with little choice. We have to talk to family and friends about this, which may or may not be a welcome idea to some.
I know Christmas is not about the gifts, but I do enjoy giving and getting gifts, it will be strange as we aim to keep it low key this year. I hope everyone understands our reasoning, but with rising costs of everything, especially food, gas, heating oil, student loans, etc... and unseen expenses that always seem to pop up around that time of year.

Christmas is still going to be great as we will still will have our traditions of decorations, Christmas...
