In my happy place!!!

Posted 09-19-2010 at 06:50 AM by Maureen

Well, this is a first!! Me, blogging.......where will it all end?!

I'm sitting here, as you do, pondering on the great mysteries of life. Do I want another coffee before I head out into the rain with the dogs? Can the dogs wait for me to have another coffee before I head out into the rain with them? Do I have a shower before or after the said rainy walk (that one was simple; if I get soaked, I'm gonna want to heat up when I get back!) I'm sure the dogs won't hold it against me and any dodgy unwashed smell emanating from me will more than be disguised by eau de wet mutt!!! Anyway, too much information for delicate ears to handle this early on a Sunday, I'm sure.......

Heading back to the plot (I have a tendency to digress more than just a little, so please make yourselves comfortable and fasten your safety belt, it could end up quite the journey..) I'm still sitting here and I'm in my happy place. The unwalked dogs are sitting at my feet next to the radiators...

Unspoken Softly (Poem entry #1)

Posted 09-18-2010 at 10:07 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

I have said in the past I was going to start posting some of my poems I wrote. This poem was written when my wife and I were friends and I was really confused by my feelings for her, this one is the one I actually had published. It is not my best IMO but it was good enough to be published. Enjoy.

Unspoken Softly

As we into each others eyes
speaking in ways we can only know,
I want to kiss your lips and live a dream.
You may be just a friend
but you mean much more.
My heart has grown so fond of you
but I can't say I love you so.
Will my feelings ever change?
I do not know.
I would love to love you
and give you my heart.
You are my dream.
You've touched my soul.

My $5,000 Chihuahua - A Pet Parent Dilemma

It was this time of the year, Autumn and it all comes back. Ivy lay in the bed sort of crumpled up with her hind legs contracted to her body. She could not move them and every time I tried to move her she winced and cried out. I was in a panic. What was I, were we to do ?? This had happened before. As I tried to comfort my little Ivy, my tears fell onto her sweet little face. I prayed. "Dear God, NOT THIS AGAIN !!" "What are we going to do, God, we are bankrupt ?!" My head was spinning as I tried to figure out a solution. My husband, for all his faults, was beside himself as well. Ivy was his "little princess". I knew something had to be done and it was me who was going to have to set things in action or she would be paralyzed for the rest of her life or have to be put down.

Ivy had ruptured a disc in her back. I don't know how it happened or why. She had no feeling in her legs and had lost control of bowels and bladder but yet still had enough...

Al Bundy, Retail Hero?

Posted 09-17-2010 at 09:20 AM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

As some of you know I have been working in some sort of retail position for the last 13 years, and now that we are entering the shopping season you start to see the people looking for certain things. Most of these people are really great and are really happy talking with you and sharing their holiday plans and actually like to hear what you have to say and use their please and thank you's.
Then some people are the type of people who are absolute bears and nothing you do is good enough for them and you are just a "speed bump" in their way and they don't want to deal with you but they ask you a question and expect you to drop everything the second they ask even when you are helping other people first.
I know from my experience you have to "kill them with kindness" but sometimes that isn't good enough, and when they leave, I sometimes leave the floor and go to the back or freezer and just take out my frustrations by letting out a torrent of expletives, of...

Quotes From A Two Year Old.

Posted 09-16-2010 at 10:11 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

My boy LC has really started talking quite a bit lately, he just seems to have put it in overdrive since his brother has gone to school. His brother always seemed to talk for him and he never had a reason to say much, even to the point where we couldn't understand what LC was saying we would ask JP and he knows exactly what he said. We thought LC was a late talker considering, his brother was talking by nine months, and was saying complete sentences by 13 months. LC was not saying more than 3 words as late as December 2009 when he was 21 months old, his doctor wasn't concerned he would just say the second child always takes longer, but we were still nervous. After Christmas last year the words started flowing and he was doing a good job practicing his words, through the winter, spring, and summer he learned more and more words and sentences and lately has started asking questions. Which brings me to the point of this entry, the things that have come out of his mouth are sometimes hilarious....
