Playlist - Mistletoe Mix/Greasy Skillet - December 15, 2012

Posted 06-19-2013 at 05:47 PM by RadioJonD (Tinseled Musings from a Yule Tuned Mind)

Mistletoe Mix/Greasy Skillet - December 15, 2012

Like last year we will feature two all Christmas shows this week and next! These shows are two shows in one, hence the phrase "The Mistletoe Mix Edition of the Greasy Skillet".

"Mistletoe Mix" is a program heard online at www.merrychristmasradio.com. Unlike "Greasy Skillet" which runs on broadcast radio station WAAM in Ann Arbor (and online at www.waamradio.com), "MM" doesn't have commercial breaks. So, listeners to "MM" on MCR get extra content to round their hour! The playlist below will reflect the extra songs with a line break from the usual "GS" playlist. Cornfused? Think how I must feel!

GS December 15, 2012 Hour One

Christmas Time's A-Comin' - Buck Owens & The Buckaroos
Merry Christmas From the Family - Robert Earl Keen
Happy Holidays Y'all - Robert Earl Keen
Santa Didn't Bring Us Squat - Shelby Lynn

As spoken of in the most recent podcast these past two months have been a time of great discovery for me concerning my family history.

Every July 24th there is a state holiday in Utah called Pioneer Day. It celebrates the pioneers of 1847 who first came to settle these valleys. Many of my ancestors on my father's side were amongst them.

I had no idea, honestly, of how many of them there were.

Family History is a big deal to those of the Mormon faith and though I never really thought or heard much of my father's family while growing up it wasn't because they weren't important. It was that their "work" -- or historical information -- was pretty much done generations before I was born. I spent much of my youth and my young adult years discovering my mother's side of the family (none of whom were Mormon). ...
