Someone To Watch Over Me

Posted 10-15-2011 at 08:00 PM by caninemom3

Today is the perfect Autumn day !! It is cool, the wind is blowing in that perfect October way (being a Christmas nut to me it feels like Santa Claus time !!), and this morning it was dark. When I went outside with Clancy this morning, though it was chilly I took the time to look around at the trees and to feel and breath in Autumn. Such a magical feeling in the air !!

Clancy and I returned back to the living room and I built a small but warm fire, turned the Christmas lights on which are on the mantle as well as my fiberoptic Jack O' Lantern which is on the entertainment center. We all snuggled in for a quiet and cozy morning. After reading a while I became quite drowsy and drifted off to sleep, Wishbone in my arms, Clancy at my feet, all of us in front of the comforting dream-enhancing soft blaze in the fireplace.

A few hours later I was awoken. Clancy was nudging me with that cold nose of hers and giving me desperate kisses. She seemed very concerned about...

I Am Wallpaper

Posted 10-13-2011 at 08:23 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

I have been dealing with some strange goings on the last few weeks, as I have said in the past I am an extremely shy person, and when you mix in women who flirt with you it makes for some comical results. I prefer to be a person who does not stick out, almost like "wallpaper" I am there but not noticed. That is the way I like to be, if someone ever wanted my "15 minutes of fame" I would pay them to take it. First time I noticed I was being flirted with I was going in to pick up a pizza, I walked in, I have to walk by the bar to the pick up window, I noticed 3 women watching me, I felt very self conscious, I get to the window and the pizza order had just been put in the oven, so I had to go back by the women, I quickly walked out and went to sit in my car while I waited. 10-15 minutes later I had to go back in, I was nervous and dreading it almost, I went back in making sure my wedding ring was COMPLETELY visible, they watched every step I took, I just wanted to leave....

Happy Anniversary, Baby

Posted 10-12-2011 at 06:41 AM by Jeff Westover (A Merry Blog)

October 12th, 1991, was the day My Merry Christmas was born. That also happened to be the day I got married.

Those two events go hand-in-hand for one reason: Aubree, my now-25 year old daughter.

We became a family that day. And almost immediately we started making plans for Christmas.

She presented to me a terrific challenge. For all of her short life she had celebrated Christmas one way: every Christmas Eve she spent at her grandparent's home in a sea of family. They ate, opened gifts and enjoyed each others company.

For all of my 28-years I had celebrated Christmas differently -- like a child. Every Christmas Eve we would stay home as a family and hang our stockings. We might see some family drop by and we might spend time with them on the phone. But our home was ground zero for Christmas and the action all happened within footsteps of my bedroom. Christmas meant that intimate family time together, reading the Christmas story from...

The 1st snow fall

Posted 10-02-2011 at 01:29 PM by Lynn68 (Everything Christmas)

I don'tthink there's any feeling like the feeling you get looking out the window at the 1st snow fall of the season. I love when it begins to fall on a weekend when I'm home with the family. We'll definately be found in the living room watching a great Christmas movie while sipping on either a mug of hot chocolate or a mug of warm spiced apple cider. Now and again I'll find myself staring out the window day dreaming of past Christmas mornings. Oh how the 1st snow fall warms my heart!! Please snow flakes, come before Christmas this year! There really is nothing quite like this time of year.

Timeless

Quarter ’til midnight
by my watch,
Christmas Eve on the Square
seven years ago.

Town nestled
but my eyes open,
No fear of forfeit now
my gift drifts soft and low.

Bottle midnight light
and press the blessing,
the first few minutes of Christmas
born in snow.

Just a still and silent clock and
I to count the moments,
give them voice and hear them speak
that we should know

timeless.
