MMC and Our Kittens

Posted 11-22-2010 at 09:18 AM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

This is the time of year I was looking most forward to spending time on this great site, since this is what we celebrate everyday here.
Life in general has gotten in the way of the time I have wanted to share here, between my work schedule of now nearly 40 hours a week, which is up from 28 that I worked the last 2 years, the money is great but exhaustion reigns supreme in my life at this time, especially when I move 1000's of pounds of turkeys a day, I don't think my arms have ever been bigger, but wow am I tired. I still do make a quick visit at least once a day, do a quick blurb in the countdown, and did join in the countdown to the season for the last 20 minutes before midnight, that was quite fun. I am still looking forward to being here for the festivities of the season and celebrating with all of you.

Kitties: I just want to give an update of the kittens we rescued back in May, and describe their personalities quickly.

We ended out adopting two...

Do You See Him ?

Posted 11-21-2010 at 01:23 PM by caninemom3

Do You See Him?
by Max Lucado

IT’S CHRISTMAS NIGHT. THE HOUSE IS QUIET.

Even the crackle is gone from the fireplace. The last of the carolers appeared on the ten o’clock news. The last of the apple pie was eaten by my brother-in-law. And the last of the Christmas albums have been stored away having dutifully performed their annual rendition of chestnuts, white Christmases, and red-nosed reindeers.

It’s Christmas night.

The midnight hour has chimed and I should be asleep, but I’m awake. I’m kept awake by one stunning thought.

The world was different this week. It was temporarily transformed.

The magical dust of Christmas glittered on the cheeks of humanity ever so briefly, reminding us of what is worth having and what we were intended to be.

We forgot our compulsion with winning, wooing, and warring. We put away our...

What the Skeptics Don't Get About Thanksgiving and Christmas

Posted 11-20-2010 at 12:13 AM by Jeff Westover (A Merry Blog)

Jim Early starts to hang his Christmas lights in September. He turns them on the night after Halloween. And without fail every year the reactions are the same. Neighbors on all sides of him gather for the lighting ceremony, as they have for years in the sleepy Northern California town of Grass Valley. But just as the jolly traditions of Santa, elves, eggnog and stockings are a tradition of the season so too are some Scrooge-like traditions that just have to come up every year.

“There is a guy on a local radio station who picks the day after Halloween every year to complain about the creep of Christmas,” Jim says. “He doesn’t want to see decoration for sale in the stores, he can’t stand to hear Christmas music on the radio in November and he picks on me every year for firing up my Christmas display right after Halloween. It has become tradition.”
He’s right.

There is a preponderance of folks all over who detest the early manifestations of the season....

1 CORRINTHIANS 13 CHRISTMAS VERSION

If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another decorator.

If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another cook.

If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home, and give all that I have to charity, but do not show love to my family, it profits me nothing.

If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir's cantata, but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point.

Wow a little over a month left...

Posted 11-17-2010 at 01:53 PM by HollyJells

I am sitting here amazed at how many days are left before Christmas and I am marveling at how fast this year has gone. Is it really already November 17th and Thanksgiving is next Thursday? I am speechless at how fast life is moving. This year marks the 12th year of my Dad passing on and the fourth year since Mom left us. Time passes so quickly when life take hold and yanks you along for the ride.
I have orientation for subbing tomorrow and although I am a little nervous, I suspect that will pass in time. Just a little jittery to start. THe weather here can not make up it's mind yet. We had a horrendous wind storm last night and I was up until the worst passed. All the while hubby was upstairs snoring his heart out.
I am about finished with all of my decorating and considering not putting up the outside lights this year, there just isn't enough time to be honest and I have so many other things to do.
I called my sister to let her know we will be heading her way for...
