The Return of The Worry Wart Kid

Posted 11-10-2010 at 07:19 PM by caninemom3
Tags wart, worry

I am so tired. I wish I could just go to sleep. To rest, what a concept !! No matter how much sleep I get I never seem to feel rested. A lot of it is because I just cannot seem to clear my mind (what little mind I have left after being a young person in the 1960s !!).

There are so many things/situations going on that I do not know the outcomes of which are making me very, very tense.

First, my stepson, DJ, has finished his chemo and went for his followup PET scan yesterday. He will not know the results until next week.

What will they be ?? Did the chemo obliterate the Hodgkin's ? Was there only a partial response ?? What if there was no response at all and it is refractory ?? If it did respond will it come back ??

I worry about so many things. I know that worry is not constructive and is not conducive toward a favorable outcome. It is just the way I am.

I worry constantly about my sister. She is 66 and although...

Who Started Christmas

Posted 11-10-2010 at 03:09 PM by caninemom3

I must be the world's most annoying blogger. The past few days I have wanted to share the inspiration I feel at Christmas time with my Christmas family. I do not really have words of my own so I have posted a couple of inspirational writings that I thought some might enjoy. Well, here we go again. This is another one. It is to the point and not quite as "fluffy" as the other ones. Nevertheless, I think it makes a good point.

WHO STARTED CHRISTMAS?

This morning I heard a story on the radio of a woman who was out Christmas shopping with her two children. After many hours of looking at row after row of toys and everything else imaginable. And after hours of hearing both her children asking for everything they saw on those many shelves, she finally made it to the elevator with her two kids.

She was feeling what so many of us feel during the holiday season time...

Where to put the stupid tree?

Posted 11-10-2010 at 12:55 PM by Jeff Westover (A Merry Blog)

Last weekend I found myself driving on a blazing trip to California so my wife could attend to the business of a family medical emergency. I tried to fly her out there but a last minute deal on a one hour flight was more than $1000 so I put her in the car and literally dropped her off at her mother's house and turned around and came back.

This kind of thing was no big deal for the kids as I have left them home alone before, especially since my 24 year old daughter had no work committments for the weekend. As I was literally going out the door -- kids somewhat in shock over the sudden-ness of it all -- I told them if they wanted they could put up the Christmas tree in my absence.

It was a stormy weekend, they would be inside most of the time and it was an activity I felt would keep them happily occupied.

Wrong.

Our main living room -- where the tree has to go -- is very inflexible. It is rectangular in shape, has a large picture...

Christmas Memories & Long Lost Family

Posted 11-10-2010 at 10:26 AM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

I woke up this morning thinking about two different things, both about my past with cousins I haven't seen for a while. My boys have been watching the original Transformers cartoon, now that they are on TV again, my boys are loving it, it may be a little "old" for them, but being a child of the 80's when Ghostbusters and Gremlins were considered family fare, this is pretty harmless. It is fun reliving my childhood with my boys, and seeing how much they love it reminded me how much I loved that show, especially Optimus Prime, we have the great fun realistic looking movies now, and the toys are a lot harder to do, but they are so much cooler looking now. Which brings me to my cousins, they are both older than me but I am only 1 1/2 years younger than my older cousin. We were so close growing up, they lived in the next town and we would go over there house quite often, and they always had the best toys, my oldest cousin was the sports nut, being into baseball, football, and hockey,...

Remember My Birthday - A Different Perspective

Posted 11-08-2010 at 04:00 PM by caninemom3

HOW TO CELEBRATE CHRIST'S BIRTHDAY
-- from Christ

Dear children,

It has come to my attention that many of you are upset that folks are taking My name out of the season. Maybe you've forgotten that I wasn't actually born during this time of the year and that it was some of your predecessors who decided to celebrate My birthday on what was actually a time of pagan festival. Although I do appreciate being remembered anytime.

How I personally feel about this celebration can probably be most easily understood by those of you who have been blessed with children of your own. I don't care what you call the day. If you want to celebrate My birth just, GET ALONG AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER. Now, having said that, let Me go on. If it bothers you that the town in which you live doesn't allow a scene depicting My birth,...
