Miracle

I am quite weepy this evening which is not new for me. I got some very, very good news today. We have been trying to get a furnace loan for the past year off and on and have been turned down every time because of several reasons, one of them being a bankruptcy which we had to declare back in 2005.

Our furnace is oil and is 57 years old and has been dying a slow and creaky death (rather like myself as I am just 1 year younger than it) for a long time. It went out last Winter in January, February, March, etc. Each time my husband managed to be able to get it going but we both knew it was not going to last another Winter so we decided to try once more to get a loan.

I got the news today that I qualified for a loan to purchase a new furnace !! It is a true miracle in my eyes. Facing a Winter here in Ohio without a furnace could be quite brutal and I just did not know what we were going to do.

I am still a little cautious but the closing of the loan...

Christmas on Main Street
by V. Rodney Harrison Jr. 10-14-2010

As the snow silently drifts down on each passerby,
A brisk wind flows down the snow covered walkways with ease.
Folks all about with merriment in their warmed hearts,
From the blinking lights hung high and the tinsel covered trees.

Five and Dime windows are full of jovial decorative displays,
With themes of St. Nicholas and his Significant Other.
Of board games and toys for children of every age,
As well as festive grand gifts for both - father and mother.

Shoppers follow in line with their newly found treasures,
Wrapped packages snug and stacked tall in their arms.
Brightly colored bows with fresh cut ribbon flowing free,
Adorn their thoughtful gifts, so full of precious charms.

Laughter fills the streets from children gliding by,
Over ice covered cobblestone of...

One Of My Favorite Poems

Posted 10-14-2010 at 11:31 AM by caninemom3

This poem has long been one of my very, very favorites. I wanted to post it in my blog so that perhaps it will inspire others as it has me.

It was written by Max Ehrmann c.1920

THE DESIDERATA

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,...

the xmas snowglobe

This struck a chord with Danny as those words never really left him. Unable to ask what had happened that night, Danny was certain that whatever happened must be connected to to what was going on now.
Grandad, or to others he was known as Mr Christophersen...

the christmas snowglobe

Posted 10-13-2010 at 02:08 PM by kelly ann

Soon after they had married, the visiting of dads parents every Christmas Eve become somewhat of a tradition.
Yet Danny was wise enough to know that things werent always what they seemed.
Sat in the car, Danny took to remembering a Christmas from about two years ago.
At his Grandfathers house, he remebered being sent to bed earlier than normal. A lot of commotion was taking place in the downstairs room. Dad was arguing with this strange voice that wasnt there earlier. Grandad was furious and angry with this man too... and he recalled hearing his Grandather mutter the words...''As long as Im here there will always be Christmas''
