The Christmas Snowglobe

Posted 09-05-2010 at 01:57 PM by kelly ann

With the car now loaded, Danny seated himself in the back and proceeded to play his DS. He felt he was getting too old for all this palavar and lately had been questioning the whole Christmas thing altogether. Chrsitmas was the biggest event in the year for the family, more so than birthdays. Although he loved it his Chrsitmas spirit was waning.
The trip to Grandads in Boston usually took a an hour or so. Mum and dad always played Christmas music on the way.
'C'mon Dan'', mum said ''join in''. But he looked up at her and grinned and carried on playing his game console.
Mum was a Christmas nut and Dad was even worse.
The house would be decorated the second week in December every year. The baking would start about then also, and mum alaways had enough left over in January!!
Dad always told the story of how they had met at a Christmas function held by Dads Law company.
Soon after they had married the visiting of his parents every year became somewhat...

''Is everything okay Dad'' Danny asked worryingly.
His father flashed a reassuring smile and patted Dannys head, ''Dont worry Son, things are going to be great,''
Danny was curious.

The Christmas Snowglobe

Mother shouted, ''Danny are you packed yet? We are leaving in an hour, theres reports the snow will get worse''.
Danny hastily dragged himself away from the window and threw some boots and clothes into a bag.
He sensed something of impotance regarding this visit to Grandad's this year. Mum had been busy preparing for this trip for days and Dad was very anxious than usual.

The Christmas Snowglobe: part 1 by Kelly Matthews

Posted 09-05-2010 at 01:06 PM by kelly ann

Christmas just wouldnt be Christmas without the snow pondered Danny as he sat beside the window in his room.
The freshly fallen New York snow added an extra spark to the Christmas magic which Danny loved and looked forward to every year.
It was Christmas Eve and the streets below was heaving with traffic and people all rushing to get home before the snow would block the roads.
Car horns beeping, people hoping to pick up some bargains and extra gifts, a singing choir, merrily singing, 'Jingle Bells', the odd few dressed as Santa Claus collecting for charity..it all added to that wonderful Christmas feeling that 11 year old Danny loved, but like every other year on Christmas Eve himself and the family were going to stay with his fathers parents.
