The Christmas Snowglobe: part 1 by Kelly Matthews

Posted 09-05-2010 at 01:06 PM by kelly ann

Christmas just wouldnt be Christmas without the snow pondered Danny as he sat beside the window in his room.
The freshly fallen New York snow added an extra spark to the Christmas magic which Danny loved and looked forward to every year.
It was Christmas Eve and the streets below was heaving with traffic and people all rushing to get home before the snow would block the roads.
Car horns beeping, people hoping to pick up some bargains and extra gifts, a singing choir, merrily singing, 'Jingle Bells', the odd few dressed as Santa Claus collecting for charity..it all added to that wonderful Christmas feeling that 11 year old Danny loved, but like every other year on Christmas Eve himself and the family were going to stay with his fathers parents.

Christmas in New York with Jay

Posted 09-04-2010 at 03:36 PM by Jeff Westover (A Merry Blog)

My wife and I are on vacation, just winding up things here in New York City before we head home tomorrow. Today we disembarked from the cruise ship and there to pick us up was JayIsh, our designated driver from all points in Brooklyn and, of course, our programming director at Merry Christmas Radio.

Two years ago Jay and I met for the first time after years of associating together here on MMC. It was a thrill then and a thrill again today.

This is the second time Jay has done this for us. In fact, I think I'll make it a point, every time I visit the New York area, to have Jay drive us around. He is just a joy and a delight to be with.

He took us to a local Christmas shop, where we kicked tires (ornaments?) and talked business here for a while. But really it was a choice couple of hours to just visit and get to know each other better.

Migraines, Memories And Musings

As I lay here this morning typing, some of you may think I am crazy. You are probably correct. ( I actually did undergo shock therapy at one time when I was just 19 years old !) I have a migraine this morning which awakened me at 6:30 a.m. EST. Now this is nothing new for me but some of you may be wondering why I would post in my blog when I am in such discomfort. I don't really have an answer, I just have thoughts (as well as pain) in my head and MUST get them out. I have had these monstrous headaches since I was a small child. The only difference between now and then is that physicians know what they are. When I was a kid in the 1960s I was given aspirin by my very concerned mom, which of course did not help. The headaches at that time just had to pass on their own. I have had a LOT of these lately which is not unusual. I seem to go through a period where I have them for perhaps several days to weeks and then they stop. When I had them as a child my dear mother would try her very best...

The World Needs More Christmas Spirit

Posted 09-03-2010 at 10:45 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

As I lay in bed, I should be going to sleep, but I have something or many things on my mind that are bothering me tonight. I am so depressed and angered at what has been going on in the world and in my own neck of the woods that makes no sense lately. I will start with the story that really got me thinking about that woman who had a cup of acid thrown in her face for apparently being attractive, why would someone do something like that to another human being? I cannot grasp hurting someone at all, and to do something that could change someones physical appearance tears me apart. I cannot fathom what that poor woman is going through right now, not knowing who to trust that is walking toward you. My thoughts and prayers go out to her. Watching people drive lately has also been a nightmare, I nearly got into an accident today because someone pulled out in front of me, and my car went into a skid because I was so close when they pulled out. I saw someone pass another car and then slam on their...
