A STORY TO MAKE US THINK....

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was
allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the
fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for
hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their
jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on
vacation. And every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could
sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his room-mate all the things
he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one-hour periods where his
world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the
world outside. The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and
swans played on the water...

The God Who Won't Give Up

Posted 02-28-2011 at 08:10 PM by caninemom3

By Max Lucado

Not everyone in Jesus’ world gave him a warm welcome. Not everyone received him with grace. And many didn’t just ignore him, they rejected him.
Isaiah prophesied his reception like this: “He was despised and rejected by men” (Isa. 53:3 NIV).

John summarized the rejection of Jesus with these words: “He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him” (John 1:10-11 NIV).

How did Christ endure treatment like that? At any point he could have said, “I quit. I’ve had enough.” Why didn’t he? What kept him from giving up?

I wonder if Lee Ielpi understands the answer? He is a retired firefighter, a New York City firefighter. He gave twenty-six years to the city. But on September 11, 2001, he gave much more. He gave his son. Jonathan Ielpi was a fireman as well. When the Twin Towers fell, he was...

My Moments Of Panic Terror

Posted 02-24-2011 at 06:29 AM by caninemom3

I don't know how well this blog is going to be done today given the fact that I have been up all night working and just finished a mere half hour ago. Yesterday something happened to me that occasionally happens and I just have to talk about it.

I had not heard from my sister in a day or so which most everyone would think is not at all odd and in reality I guess it isn't. For most people that is. Most people except me.

If I don't hear from my sister every day either by e-mail or phone a deep seated monster starts to unleash itself within me. That monster is panic/terror.

I think it probably started when I was a child but it has taken on a life of its own since I have become an "adult." And it becomes a terror in particular regarding my sister. It is isn't fair that I feel like this but there is nothing I can do to stop it.

My sister has an active life. She and her husband are both retired, both quite sharp mentally and...

The World's Greatest Chef

WORLD'S GREATEST CHEF

I love the taste of T-bone steak,
Delicious every bite,
But there's nothing like the Word of God,
For my spiritual appetite.

The Word of God has milk and meat,
And even ice cream and cake.
Take a slice of the Bread of Life,
And coffee to keep us awake.

Open your Bible and turn to Psalms,
For David's famous buffet.
You can drink all the wine of the Word you want,
And still feel fine the next day.

There's enough of the Word for everyone,
And no one has to cheat.
The Word of God is a smorgasbord,
So take all you are able to eat.

Let's have a little long suffering,
Job gives the recipe.
Patience is the main ingredient,
Self denial is the fee.

Wrap that up in temperance,
It may not make much sense,
Cover that with contentment,...

The Light of The World

Long Before There Was A Cross,
One Tiny Heart
Beat With The Purest Love
The World Would Ever Know.

And Two Faithful People
Carried That Love To Bethlehem
So It Might Be Born
In Every Heart One Day.

When The World Had Forgotten
The ONE Who Created Every Man,
Three Kings Remembered And Came
To Kneel Before
The Author Of Their Lives.

And Seekers Everywhere
Set Out To Find HIM,
Drawn By The Radiant Light
Of His Love.

Long Before We Knew His Name,
He Cherished EVERY ONE Of us --
Before His Tiny Lips Spoke A Word,
He Knew Us By Heart.

And This Time Called Christmas
Is Our Chance To Give Him
The Greatest Gift We Could Offer In Return-
The Gift Of Ourselves.

Wishing You The Joy
Of Living In His Love
At Christmas And Always.
