A Message From Max

Posted 12-21-2012 at 05:46 AM by caninemom3

This is a message from Rev. Max Lucado, a man I very much respect and find inspiration from. I thought it was important to share his thoughts as we approach Christmas this year and include this as part of my blog xo

Some of the saddest words on earth are: “We don’t have room for you.”
Jesus knew the sound of those words. He was still in Mary’s womb when the innkeeper said, “We don’t have room for you.” (Luke 2:7)
And when he was hung on the cross, wasn’t the message one of utter rejection? “We don’t have room for you in our world.”
Even today Jesus is given the same treatment. He goes from heart to heart, asking if he might enter. Every so often, he’s welcomed. Someone throws open the door of his or her heart and invites him to stay. And to that person Jesus gives this great promise: “In my Father’s house are many rooms.” (John 14:2)
What a delightful promise he makes us! We make room for him in our hearts….And he makes room for...

The Smell Of Rain

Posted 09-15-2011 at 12:12 PM by caninemom3

This brings tears to my eyes every time I read it and I wanted to share it with my Christmas family.

A cold March wind danced around the dead of night in Dallas as the doctor
walked into the small hospital room of Diana Blessing. Still groggy from
surgery, her husband David held her hand as they braced themselves for the
latest news.

That afternoon of March 10, 1991, complications had forced Diana, only
24-weeks pregnant, to undergo an emergency cesarean to deliver the couple's
new daughter, Danae Lu Blessing.

At 12 inches long and weighing only one pound and nine ounces, they already
knew she was perilously premature. Still, the doctor's soft words dropped
like bombs. "I don't think she's going to make it," he said, as kindly as
he could. "There's only a 10-percent chance she will live through the
night, and even then, if by some slim chance she does make it, her future...

Turning 60

Posted 07-02-2011 at 04:51 PM by caninemom3

It has been such a nice weekend so far. It has been sunny and warm and Summer is definitely in the air. It just happens that this day is a birthday that is bittersweet. It is the 60th birthday of my belated husband David.

When David was here one of the wonderful things about his birthday, aside from celebrating him, was that it was about that time of the year we began to plan for the coming Christmas Season each year.

It was always so exciting !! David loved Chrstmas almost as much as me. He definitely became the same little kid I do at Christmas. Each year at Christmas he spared no expense or time in making sure everything was as perfect as it could be for me and really for everyone.

There would always be a night, usually just before Christmas by about a week, where we went to his mother's house and he wrapped one by one the gifts he had bought me and would bring them into the living room to let me see them, shake them and wonder. Each ALWAYS...

A Birthday Celebration

Posted 06-05-2011 at 07:06 AM by caninemom3

It is so hard to believe. My wonderful brother Andy's birthday is Monday, June 6. He would have been 65. Andy died when he was just 31 of an accidental drowning. There is not a day that has gone by I have not thought of him and missed him and pined for him. He was my best friend at the time. My big brother and my protector as well as confidant.

We had so many wonderful adventures together. The last Spring and Summer of his life Andy stayed with my husband, David, and I a great deal at our apartment. We didn't have a lot of money but whatever we had Andy was always welcomed to. David loved Andy as much as I did (still do). Very frequently that year when Andy would be staying with us on the weekend we would dine on baked potatoes with a variety of toppings. Andy never complained about the limited choices for food. He was grateful.

On the hot summer days that year, 1977, Andy and I would behave like little kids - we would actually chase each other...

Happy 6th!

Posted 04-12-2011 at 09:14 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)
Tags 6th, birthday

6 years ago at this moment (11:00pm), we were only a little more than an hour away from meeting our first child. I was unaware of how much my life was going to change, even though we had gone to classes, read books, etc... Nothing could prepare you for how much your world changes. My boy JP will be 6, and to see how much he has grown from that little helpless baby, to such a smart, energetic, handsome boy he is now, is such a shock. I love that boy so much, he has changed my life for the better, and I will continue to do my best to raise him to be a respectful, honest, caring young man. Nearly 6 years ago we were bringing him home for the first time, two young parents standing on the stoop of our apartment, crying and looking at each other, with one question: What do we do? I think we have done well thus far.

Happy 6th Birthday JP!
