The Journey Of A Lifetime

She was just an ordinary teenager who lived in a small town. Her parents and family were poor and made a modest living off the land but always provided for her and several relatives as was custom. She had always been a very devout Jewish girl being sure to follow to the letter the laws and traditions of her people. As she sat very still listening to the quiet Summer breeze she was both terrified and excited. A visitor had come to see her just a few hours ago. A visitor who was unlike any she had ever seen or spoken with ever in her life. The visitor was almost human looking but had such a presence of the ethereal about it. It could not be described as man or woman but rather as without gender with a kindly face yet with a commanding presence. The words the visitor spoke were most troubling for the young girl whose name was Miriam.

It had told her she was "blessed among all women" and that she had "found favor with God." How could she of all people have...

One Painful Step Leads To A Rollercoaster

Posted 01-26-2012 at 08:42 AM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

I am 2 weeks into my injury time off due to my foot, I have only worked 5 shifts in the last month, with my surgery right before Christmas and now this. I am going stir crazy being stuck in the house not being able to do much of anything, and I feel a little depression creeping in, I just have no vim or vigor to do anything right now. I sit at home watch TV, surf the net, read the newspaper, etc... I don't feel like myself, and now yesterday with my foot taking a step in the wrong direction, I am now worried I may be out of work for longer, and the prospects of some sort of surgery may be the only thing that may fix this issue. I don't know about that yet, but the whole idea of the doctor prescribing the walking boot was to see if it would help relieve the pain. I don't know what the plans are yet, I am sure I will find out about them tomorrow. I am really nervous and scared about this, we cannot afford for me to be out of work even at 60% pay. I only have a week left of vacation time,...

Mary Magdalene
at Jesus' Tomb

by Max Lucado
Mary had been there. She had heard the leaders clamor for Jesusí blood. She had witnessed the Roman whip rip the skin off his back. She had winced as the thorns sliced his brow and wept at the weight of the cross.

In the Louvre there is a painting of the scene of the cross. In the painting the stars are dead and the world is wrapped in darkness. In the shadows there is a kneeling form. It is Mary. She is holding her hands and lips against the bleeding feet of the Christ.

We donít know if Mary did that, but we know she could have. She was there. She was there to hold her arm around the shoulder of Mary the mother of Jesus. She was there to close his eyes. She was there.
So itís not surprising that she wants to be there again.

In the early morning mist she arises from her mat, takes her spices and aloes, and leaves her house,...

Encouragement !!

A STORY TO MAKE US THINK....

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was
allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the
fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for
hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their
jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on
vacation. And every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could
sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his room-mate all the things
he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one-hour periods where his
world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the
world outside. The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and
swans played on the water...

WHEN YOU ARE LOW ON HOPE

By Max Lucado

Water. All Noah can see is water. The evening sun sinks into it. The clouds are reflected in it. His boat is surrounded by it. Water. Water to the north. Water to the south. Water to the east. Water to the west. Water.

He sent a raven on a scouting mission; it never returned. He sent a dove. It came back shivering and spent, having found no place to roost. Then, just this morning, he tried again. With a prayer he let it go and watched until the bird was no bigger than a speck on a window.

All day he looked for the doveís return.
Now the sun is setting, and the sky is darkening, and he has come to look one final time, but all he sees is water. Water to the north. Water to the south. Water to the east. Water to the Ö

You know the feeling. You have stood where Noah stood. Youíve known your share of floods. Flooded by sorrow at the cemetery, stress at the office, anger...
