My name is Ron, I am a Christmas nut always have been always will be. I am first and foremost a stay at home dad that has an evening job at a retail/grocery establishment. After my second son was born I stepped down from my management position, so my wife and I don't have to pay for daycare. My wife is a teacher in the town we live, so people recognize us everywhere in our little town.
My wife and I have been married for 9 years. We have 2 boys aged 6 and 3, both are young Christmas nuts.

I have loved Christmas as long as I remember
from seeing the lights on all the houses, to seeing if I could stay awake to see Santa.
Christmas has been the one constant in my life it has always been there for me, through the rough times of my parents divorce when I was 10 y/o or my mother's passing when I was 16.
Everyone always tried to make it something special for myself and sister when we were young no matter what was going on. I now believe that is why I love this time of year more than any other because of the efforts of my family to hold it above any other time of year. I get to make the season special for my boys now, whether it be by playing the music decorating the house and yard or just playing the dvd's. The memories the season has brought have always warm and it is no wonder why I look forward to making more of these memories every year. My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story my favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night. My favorite Christmas artist is Bing Crosby.
Well if I ran on a little bit I am sorry I am new to blogging, it sounds always better in your mind.
I will try to keep posting and making it interesting for all who read.

To Be Yourself Is Beautiful...

Posted 05-10-2012 at 09:46 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

As some of you have noticed I have a new quote on my signature for the forums. It is kind of a funny sounding quote, but it has struck a nerve with me as I have thought about it. I have recently discovered it in a cool sounding song called "The Feathered Tiger" it is a lyric toward the end of the song about a feathered tiger and the people who try to cheer up the tiger are basically telling him to be himself.

I have recently decided to be 100% me all the time, as a way to fight this anxiety I deal with. I wrote earlier this year on how I want to defeat my anxiety, and I feel this is the best way to do just that. I have struggled being me from time to time, I always thought of myself as not to good looking, not good enough, a boring person who cannot make small talk, etc... I have friends at work who have shown me I am good enough, and with that I have more confidence than I have had in many years. If I don't mention my wife here it would be wrong of me, as she...

A Friend In Need...

As many you may know I am a worry wart, I care much for people close to me and for the people on this site if they are quiet for to long. I have some thoughts on my friend who is in his mid-thirties and seemingly has no prospects for work or love. He is a great guy, who cares for everyone, and wears his heart on his sleeve, and will do anything to help us or anyone out. He lives at home with his parents and plays video games until the sun comes up, then sleeps until noon or later. He has had jobs where he has excelled at, but never lasted at either by choice or lay off, most recently he left his job because his car won't pass inspection. His car has been abandoned in our driveway for the last 2.5 months. He has had girlfriends but he has dumped them early on and hasn't gone out dating close to 7 years now. I worry about him because there is so much to experience in life and when your life is lived through a video game, you really don't see much. I admit I use to play video games at least...

Life Gets in the Way of a Blog

When I first joined MMC, I was just looking for a way to fight the PCB's (post Christmas blues) I thought it may just be a way to quickly fend those blues off and then on with life. I started coming in and reading posts, playing the fun & games, and just looking at pictures, it did help, and you know I stuck around. I had more time in my life at that point, I was more of a stay at home dad, I only worked 25-30 hours a week, so LC would take a nap I would log on, JP at preschool I would log on, down time while kids were playing, log on, and so on. When I first stepped down to take care of the boys I had discussed about doing a blog with my wife about life of a stay at home dad, but things at that time were absolutely bonkers with a 6 month old, moving from an apartment to our house, at that time I don't think I was ever more physically or emotionally exhausted with all going on. It would be more than a year before I joined and the thought of a blog was out of my mind. I joined here...

Shedding Tears

Posted 03-15-2011 at 09:20 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

It has been a while since I last posted on my blog, and with everything going on in the world and in life in general, I have some thoughts I would like to share.

It is hard to witness what is going on in Japan right now, they are broadcasting it on the news, will the nuclear power plant turn into the next Chernobyl? Three Mile Island? The search for survivors is always great to hear when they find one, but the loss of life is just horrific to hear about. The people over there are going through hell right now and you have jackasses like Gilbert Gottfried making insensitive jokes about their pain and suffering.

Death seems to be the prevalent topic at the moment for a lot of people, my wife went to the wake of her former high school basketball coach on Friday, while she was in line for the viewing, her friend received a text message stating that another former basketball coach, and really good family friend of hers had a heart attack and died that same day....
