Handel's Hallelujah Chorus

Handel's Messiah is a story of resurrection. It is both the biblical story of Christ's life and resurrection on earth, and the story of Handel's return from oblivion.
Like many of the great composers, Handel was a child prodigy. He began composing operas at young age and by his twenties he was the best paid composer on earth with people fighting for seats whenever he performed. Then there is a third who is just as much part of Christmas in a different way as Christmas trees, lights, and cookies. He is in countless movies such as A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, Polar Express, etc... He is at every Christmas party I attend, in my car, at the mall and so on. He wakes us up on Christmas morning with his voice. I look at the holiday season and cannot think of him not being there. Much like the anticipation of the season builds to a frenzy in October, he starts slowly reappearing around that time in a different role.
