I Stink !! Or The Grass Is A Color Not Green

Posted 06-11-2011 at 10:19 AM by caninemom3

As a transcriptionist by trade, I think or thought I had heard it all. Every dialect. Every kind of dictator. In 17 years there have been quite a variety. There have been been several times when doctors thought they were being sly and "broke wind" while talking positive it would not be heard.

Guess what guys ??? We transcriptionists hear EVERYTHING. And I must say I have chuckled quite a few times when I have heard this.

I have been working at home for the past 4 years as a tanscriptionist. Before that, I was at one of the local hospitals and worked there for 8-1/2 years. Then the bottom started falling out for that hospital and I knew I needed to do SOMETHING and FAST.

My goddaughter had been working at home in transcription since she needs a job but had two very little tots at the time and she urged and encouraged me to join her company. As scared as I was, I did it. For four years good or bad, thick or thin, I stayed with my company....

Life's Message

Posted 06-05-2011 at 07:41 AM by caninemom3

I must be waxing philosophical this morning or something. I am sitting here trying to figure out what life, my life in particular, is all about. I have heard many, many philosophies about the subject in my time and none of them explains anything to me. We have all asked, I am sure, why am I even here ? This is a question I not only ask but live daily, hourly sometimes.

Is life supposed to be about loss, about pain and suffering ?? I suppose those things are all a part of all our lives and it is not that I have suffered more than anyone else. In fact my "cross" has been very light compared to those of others.

Still sometimes I am weighed down and feel as though I cannot take even one more step or crawl one more inch.

Now, here comes the pity party.

Why are all my family gone ?? everyone except my dear sister. Why am I so alone all of the time ?? At least that is the way I feel. Even my best friends in...

A Birthday Celebration

Posted 06-05-2011 at 07:06 AM by caninemom3

It is so hard to believe. My wonderful brother Andy's birthday is Monday, June 6. He would have been 65. Andy died when he was just 31 of an accidental drowning. There is not a day that has gone by I have not thought of him and missed him and pined for him. He was my best friend at the time. My big brother and my protector as well as confidant.

We had so many wonderful adventures together. The last Spring and Summer of his life Andy stayed with my husband, David, and I a great deal at our apartment. We didn't have a lot of money but whatever we had Andy was always welcomed to. David loved Andy as much as I did (still do). Very frequently that year when Andy would be staying with us on the weekend we would dine on baked potatoes with a variety of toppings. Andy never complained about the limited choices for food. He was grateful.

On the hot summer days that year, 1977, Andy and I would behave like little kids - we would actually chase each other...

My Mothers

Posted 05-06-2011 at 08:57 PM by caninemom3
Tags love, mary, mother, nani, susy

It is Friday night and though I am absolutely exhausted from this past work week I am sitting pondering my mothers. Yes, plural. There have been a few who have been like mothers to me.

As odd as this may sound, my late first husband was quite maternal in the way he behaved at times, in affection always doting on me, always telling me he was proud of me, always helping me to believe in ME, always available to talk, share ideas with, shop, discuss books, but especially wanting the best for me. I am so blessed to have had him in my life for the 20 years we were married. I will always miss him.

My sister, as I call her, "Nani" after the movie Lilo and Stitch, has been very much like a mother to me. In the movie the little girl, Lilo, had a big sister whose name is Nani. Nani in the movie was the only person left from Lilo's family as their parents were dead (exactly as it is in real life for me). There is one scene where Lilo is being a bit of a brat...

The Monster Inside

Posted 04-29-2011 at 12:44 PM by caninemom3

It's back. It has raised its ugly head once again. Only this is not a monster one can conquer with weapons or anything of that nature. This is a monster who lives within me, within my emotions and strikes when I am at my lowest. I am talking about my food addiction. I am a compulsive eater. Always have been. I have tried EVERYTHING including hypnosis, psychotherapy, behavior modification. EVERYTHING. You name it, I have done it.

The ONLY way I can put this monster in limbo is by staying away from all the foods I find to be trigger foods, which is almost anything but usually high fat foods, high carbohydrate foods, and the like.

Why am I like this ???? No matter what I do the monster always wins, ALWAYS. I may win a few battles but the monster always wins the war.

I try to think of other things when I get that compulsion to binge.......try to pay attention to music, books, my furchildren, take walks, take a nap (which is REALLY dangerous because...
