Welcome to our newest member, AmyHardy
My name is Ron, I am a Christmas nut always have been always will be. I am first and foremost a stay at home dad that has an evening job at a retail/grocery establishment. After my second son was born I stepped down from my management position, so my wife and I don't have to pay for daycare. My wife is a teacher in the town we live, so people recognize us everywhere in our little town.
My wife and I have been married for 9 years. We have 2 boys aged 6 and 3, both are young Christmas nuts.

I have loved Christmas as long as I remember
from seeing the lights on all the houses, to seeing if I could stay awake to see Santa.
Christmas has been the one constant in my life it has always been there for me, through the rough times of my parents divorce when I was 10 y/o or my mother's passing when I was 16.
Everyone always tried to make it something special for myself and sister when we were young no matter what was going on. I now believe that is why I love this time of year more than any other because of the efforts of my family to hold it above any other time of year. I get to make the season special for my boys now, whether it be by playing the music decorating the house and yard or just playing the dvd's. The memories the season has brought have always warm and it is no wonder why I look forward to making more of these memories every year. My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story my favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night. My favorite Christmas artist is Bing Crosby.
Well if I ran on a little bit I am sorry I am new to blogging, it sounds always better in your mind.
I will try to keep posting and making it interesting for all who read.

Al Bundy, Retail Hero?

Posted 09-17-2010 at 09:20 AM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

As some of you know I have been working in some sort of retail position for the last 13 years, and now that we are entering the shopping season you start to see the people looking for certain things. Most of these people are really great and are really happy talking with you and sharing their holiday plans and actually like to hear what you have to say and use their please and thank you's.
Then some people are the type of people who are absolute bears and nothing you do is good enough for them and you are just a "speed bump" in their way and they don't want to deal with you but they ask you a question and expect you to drop everything the second they ask even when you are helping other people first.
I know from my experience you have to "kill them with kindness" but sometimes that isn't good enough, and when they leave, I sometimes leave the floor and go to the back or freezer and just take out my frustrations by letting out a torrent of expletives, of...

Quotes From A Two Year Old.

Posted 09-16-2010 at 10:11 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

My boy LC has really started talking quite a bit lately, he just seems to have put it in overdrive since his brother has gone to school. His brother always seemed to talk for him and he never had a reason to say much, even to the point where we couldn't understand what LC was saying we would ask JP and he knows exactly what he said. We thought LC was a late talker considering, his brother was talking by nine months, and was saying complete sentences by 13 months. LC was not saying more than 3 words as late as December 2009 when he was 21 months old, his doctor wasn't concerned he would just say the second child always takes longer, but we were still nervous. After Christmas last year the words started flowing and he was doing a good job practicing his words, through the winter, spring, and summer he learned more and more words and sentences and lately has started asking questions. Which brings me to the point of this entry, the things that have come out of his mouth are sometimes hilarious....

Who Can We Look Up To?

Watching the world today is just a window into selfishness I wish my children couldn't see. The world is so me, me, me, I worry about who my kids have to look up to as there heroes and role models. I know as a parent the perfect role model would be my wife and I but if you look through the eyes of a child they see the football player, the movie star, Optimus Prime. When I was growing up I had my role models, and most were baseball players, and hockey players. The first one I remember was Jim Rice of the Boston Red Sox, he was my favorite player when I was a little kid, I couldn't wait to see him hit, and I finally got to see him play in person in 1987 at 12 years old at Fenway Park against the Baltimore Orioles the first ball that was hit to him he injured his knee and that was that. My father told me stories about how strong Jim Rice was, and how he went into the stands and picked up a kid that got a foul ball off the temple and ran him through the Red Sox locker room, years later I heard...

I Will Never Forget

Posted 09-10-2010 at 09:30 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

Tomorrow marks the anniversary of one of the worst things I and probably most people have ever seen. I did not know a single person who lost their life due to the senseless act of terrorism, but I know people who were affected by loss of a loved one. My sister's husband lost one of his best friends in the WTC attack. I still remember the sense of surrealism and the fear everyone was feeling, a woman I was working with at the time came over and told me there was two plane crashes in NYC and I felt a little uneasy about it, and I went to talk to someone else and they said follow me, we went to a television and there were 20 other employees watching those horrific images. The feelings just got worse as we watched, I just remember people leaving crying, and the bosses sent home a bunch of employees, myself included, and they didn't want to have to worry about anyone getting home if things weren't over. I have only gotten older as that day has gotten further in the rearview, but I still have...

Fall Blurbs!

Posted 09-08-2010 at 10:05 AM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

Growing up back to school time for me was not a good time, I actually dreaded it. Being a very shy child I struggled with making friends especially after moving to 5 different towns in 6 years, I was perpetually the new kid every year, and it made it very easy for other children to pick on me.
Now my older boy is in kindergarten, and I hope he grows to enjoy school, it will be a huge advantage for him to really like it. If I can help it we will never move from this town so he can grow up with the same kids he has been with since pre-school.

Next week we will be doing our family trip to the apple orchard to pick our apples for pies and other desserts, I really look forward to that day and I hope there will be a chill in the air because it is more seasonal with that little chill. After picking the apples we will have cider and cider doughnuts and I will pick up that painting of the boy with the Santa hat building a snowman. It is such a great family day for us, 13...
