My name is Ron, I am a Christmas nut always have been always will be. I am first and foremost a stay at home dad that has an evening job at a retail/grocery establishment. After my second son was born I stepped down from my management position, so my wife and I don't have to pay for daycare. My wife is a teacher in the town we live, so people recognize us everywhere in our little town.
My wife and I have been married for 9 years. We have 2 boys aged 6 and 3, both are young Christmas nuts.

I have loved Christmas as long as I remember
from seeing the lights on all the houses, to seeing if I could stay awake to see Santa.
Christmas has been the one constant in my life it has always been there for me, through the rough times of my parents divorce when I was 10 y/o or my mother's passing when I was 16.
Everyone always tried to make it something special for myself and sister when we were young no matter what was going on. I now believe that is why I love this time of year more than any other because of the efforts of my family to hold it above any other time of year. I get to make the season special for my boys now, whether it be by playing the music decorating the house and yard or just playing the dvd's. The memories the season has brought have always warm and it is no wonder why I look forward to making more of these memories every year. My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story my favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night. My favorite Christmas artist is Bing Crosby.
Well if I ran on a little bit I am sorry I am new to blogging, it sounds always better in your mind.
I will try to keep posting and making it interesting for all who read.

I Cannot Wait

Posted 10-25-2010 at 09:23 AM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

I am ready to break out the decorations, I am ready for a turkey dinner, I am just ready.
I feel on top of the game this year, I am not feeling overwhelmed by the thought of shopping, or of getting the house decorated. I just want to get everything done early this year and really enjoy the WHOLE season, just listening to Christmas music or watching all my Christmas DVD's this year, the last 2 we have not been able to watch them all with all going on, but this year I will. I cannot wait until the local radio stations go Christmas music 24/7 and I fall asleep every night listening to it (one of my favorite things). My wife has been making a new Christmas cookie the last 2 weekends and she plans to do every weekend right through the holidays, I know my earlier blogs I was sort of depressed about things but that has passed and now once again the season cannot get here fast enough and as of midnight we will be under 60 days.
I am not only dreaming of a white Christmas, I am dreaming...

Xmas365 & Sons Light & Design

Posted 10-18-2010 at 09:20 AM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

I have been thinking about doing something with my professional life for a while now and I keep coming back to one thing I have been thinking about for a number of years now. Unfortunately it would be a seasonal type of job, only from maybe October - January. I would like to do outside design and decorating for the holiday season starting with Halloween right through Christmas then do the taking down of the decorations in January. I read about it in the newspaper, I believe 5-6 years ago and I have thought about it ever since. The job I have now would not be conducive to that schedule and hence why it is just a thought at the moment. I would probably have to have some training in electric work and that would probably take a few years , but I always look forward to doing my own lights and decorating outside, I nearly take a month to do my own, between inside and out. I don't mind working in the cold considering I work in a freezer where it is -20* F to 0*F many days, I spend hours in there....

I Talked To God Last Night

Posted 10-13-2010 at 12:26 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

As some of you know, I was raised in a house where my mom was a minister, it was a different life where we had to learn to be second fiddle to the congregation sometimes. In a way I feel I lost valuable time with my mother that can never be recovered, yet it was her calling, a calling that had her always helping people as her profession was a registered nurse. Of course it was the cancer that took her life away from this Earth at too young of an age. I continued praying through much of the early 90's but somehow I developed an anger with God and religion in general and I turned my back on it, I haven't gone to a church service in 10 years, except for the occasional wedding or funeral. I did not even want to get married in a church, but my wife did and I agreed to do it. I do not want my children to be raised without knowledge of God, because even though I may not be the religious type, I believe God is there and know Jesus is all around us. I dated a girl in the mid 90's who never heard...

Falling off the Christmas Bandwagon

Posted 10-12-2010 at 09:15 AM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

I feel as if I have fallen off the "Christmas Bandwagon" over the last few days with the way things are going on in my professional life right now. I am the type of person who once I leave work I forget about it for the most part, and leave it behind. The way things are going right now I am struggling, everyones hours are being cut and we are doing the work of 3-4 people including what we are suppose to be doing, my hours are all over the place and I only get 2 days off in a row if I request for it. The former manager was fired after 18 years, and the new one is a person I worked with years ago whom I felt never really liked me, and for the most part I get along with everybody. The fear of layoffs is in the air, even though they are just false rumors people still have that fear. Right now I am having a hard time looking forward to the holidays not knowing my situation, will I have the vacation time, or will I not. I talked about it back in the spring with a former manager, but...

Playing the Christmas Waiting Game

Posted 10-07-2010 at 11:51 AM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

I am feeling better today thanks to LC, his laugh has been the best medicine for me.

Here we sit in early Autumn, the Halloween decorations are up and now starts the waiting, the waiting for the season I wait for all year long. The longest stretch of the year is right now for me as I have felt that way ever since childhood. I always had to tell myself once Halloween gets here it is all down hill from there, the rush to Christmas starts for me November 1. I will take down the Halloween decorations down that day in order to get prepped for the Christmas decorations. I am doing the waiting game now, our fall activity list is nearly done with the apple picking, pumpkin picking, decorating, the Big E (which I forgot stands for Expensive). A few things we will probably do like going up to Yankee Candle again, maybe a haunted hayride for the first time in JP's life, a trip to a corn maze, and of course the annual fall event the raking of the leaves which is the only one set in...
