My name is Ron, I am a Christmas nut always have been always will be. I am first and foremost a stay at home dad that has an evening job at a retail/grocery establishment. After my second son was born I stepped down from my management position, so my wife and I don't have to pay for daycare. My wife is a teacher in the town we live, so people recognize us everywhere in our little town.
My wife and I have been married for 9 years. We have 2 boys aged 6 and 3, both are young Christmas nuts.

I have loved Christmas as long as I remember
from seeing the lights on all the houses, to seeing if I could stay awake to see Santa.
Christmas has been the one constant in my life it has always been there for me, through the rough times of my parents divorce when I was 10 y/o or my mother's passing when I was 16.
Everyone always tried to make it something special for myself and sister when we were young no matter what was going on. I now believe that is why I love this time of year more than any other because of the efforts of my family to hold it above any other time of year. I get to make the season special for my boys now, whether it be by playing the music decorating the house and yard or just playing the dvd's. The memories the season has brought have always warm and it is no wonder why I look forward to making more of these memories every year. My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story my favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night. My favorite Christmas artist is Bing Crosby.
Well if I ran on a little bit I am sorry I am new to blogging, it sounds always better in your mind.
I will try to keep posting and making it interesting for all who read.

Black Friday Is Ruining Thanksgiving

Posted 11-23-2012 at 02:23 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

As someone who has been "behind the counter" for Black Friday the last 19 years in one way or another, another Black Friday has once again brought out the ugly side of the human population. When I first started working on Black Friday's I was an ignorant 18 year old kid who really never heard or paid attention to the concept. I never heard of "Doorbusters," "Black Friday," que lines, and so on. I worked people came in bought what they wanted and left, you rarely saw riots, trampling, fist fights arguments. In this society of instant gratification, and instant fame of YouTube you see these people making fools of themselves of what has become nothing more than legalized looting, I fear my safety going to work and I cannot enjoy my family time on Thanksgiving, with the anxiety I feel all day building before zero hour gets there, I am not the only one who feels that way because if we make one wrong move at the wrong time we could be the one being trampled or...

How Far Is Too Far?

Posted 09-25-2012 at 02:43 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

I am writing this as I have just witnessed something disgusting in the center of my town, I am not writing this too be polarizing, or "preach from a soapbox."
I ran to the grocery store before picking up my son, and I saw something in front of Dunkin Donuts that I thought that I could not believe was there. I ran to pick up my son, and I felt like I had to drive by it again to be sure of what I saw. Someone set up in front of Dunkin Donuts, a table with a few posters of President Barack Obama made to look like Adolph Hitler, with signs saying "impeach Obama." I could not care about the impeach signs, that is their Freedom of Speech right, but when you put it with posters that make him look like one of the most evil men in history, that is crossing the line. I don't care if it was Barack Obama, George Bush, Bill Clinton, or Ronald Reagan, that is crossing the line, the people we elect, no matter who they are and if you like them or not, none of our presidents...

Do You Know Where Your Christmas Lists And Decorations Are Hiding?

Posted 09-18-2012 at 09:41 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

Wow, let me blow the dust off the keyboard, it has been a long while since I have posted on my blog.
Mid-September, Halloween is in the stores and in the air, the first hints of Christmas in the retail world is now upon us. I feel a little behind in my Christmas preparation, I haven't even started doing my own Christmas list yet. We don't know what to get the kids yet, they are difficult for some reason without any items that really stick out this year. My wife, I don't know what she wants this year, I usually have my mind made up by now of what to get her.
My decorations are sitting down in the basement waiting for their 2012 unveiling, I know I need to replace items this year, I believe I have to replace at least 5 strands of white mini-lights among other things.
2012 could be a great Christmas season, I just need to get my act together or my decorating and shopping seasons could be running into the dreaded "last minute."

Independence Day Memories

Posted 07-04-2012 at 08:26 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

July 4, it may not be a favorite of holidays of a lot of people, but for me it is #3 behind Christmas and Thanksgiving. It is the holiday of the summer, and for me it has always struck the right chord going all the way back to my youth. It has always been one of the biggest family holidays for us just like Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Halloween when I was a kid. The fireworks are great, but that always seemed secondary to the cookouts and other fare going on. My favorite memory of July 4 goes all the way back to 1984, we had just moved into our house right by Lake Paradise in the town where we live now, my parents were still together at that point and we were having a huge cookout with my cousins, aunt & uncle grandparents and I think if I remember correctly, some friends. It was also the first time I ever saw the Summerfest since we went downtown to fly my uncle's radio controlled airplane, which I thought was so cool.
I don't remember the foods but I don't think I would be...

Christmas Field Trips 2012 (Rough Draft)

Posted 05-21-2012 at 08:57 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

Once again it is only May, but Christmas is as usual on the forefront of my mind. I have been thinking of things to do around Christmastime to help build up my Christmas spirit (as I need to do too much) I thought maybe start by doing a sort of checklist of things we could/would/maybe do this year:

Yankee Candle Village-As usual I have to start by putting down this one it is the "largest" Christmas store around, and it is semi-tradition to go there, great gifts and the sites are truly Christmassy.

Kringle Candles-This one is lower on the list as the prices for their Christmas store are really high end, but their Christmassy scented candles are great.

Graziano Gardens-I haven't been there since the mid to late 90's, honestly I forgot about them. They are a gardening store in the spring/summer, but come fall, Christmas takes center stage. I remember them having a lot of Santa's for sale, besides that I must relearn.

Garland's...
