6am UK time!!!!!!!!!! Drat and double drat!!!!!!!!!! I love listening to stuff like this - do we know if it's all still going on at 6am?? I suppose I could throw caution to the wind and try tomorrow, although technically I get to sleep in until 8am on a Saturday............... Scratch that - just reread it; I can sleep in tomorrow and catch it on Sunday morning!

American Public Media has released their treasure trove of Holiday programming beginning at Thanksgiving (US). Many public radio stations across the country will air all or some of these programs during the season.

http://www.apmstations.org/apmstatio...&programId=250

Dates given are when the shows will become available for stations to access. Consult your local station schedule for broadcast dates (and post them here!).

November 5 - Giving Thanks with John Birge

November 5 - Harvest Home: Thanksgiving with the Dale Warland Singers

November 26 (Thanksgiving Day) - The Splendid Table's Turkey Confidential

December 3 - Cantus: All is Calm
(musical drama about the surprising 1914 World War I Christmas truce, Cantus)

December 3 - Echoes of Christmas (featuring the Dale Warland Singers)

December 3 - Welcome Christmas!
(featuring the Minneapolis-based ensemble, VocalEssence)

December 24 - A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols

Other shows with “To Be Determined” dates include:

A Chanticleer Christmas

St. Olaf Christmas Festival

Keep a check at the link for updates and more programming. Be sure to notice that each show listed has a seperate link for more information. Many of these shows will be recorded with a live audience so you may be able to secure tickets for a particular performance!

As the season gets closer, I will feature some of these shows in separate posts. Feel free to beat me to it!

Ever wonder where that sanitized for your protection Christmas (I’m sorry, “Holiday”, can’t say “Christmas”) music in the shopping malls, etc. originates?

This year you may be shopping to this:

http://www.dmx.com/flash/holiday/pdf...roDholiday.pdf

A Very Jazzy Holiday
Adult C. Holiday
Adult C. Holiday Blend
Caribbean Holiday Blend
Classical Holiday
Club 12 Holiday Blend
Heartland Holiday Blend
Hi-NRG Holiday Blend
Holiday CityScapes
Holiday Favorites
Instrumental Holiday
Jingle Jamz Blend
Metro Blend Holiday
Modern Holiday
Modern Holiday Blend
Traditional Holiday
Urban Chill
Viva La Navidad

You may also see how much this “go out of our way to not say Christmas” programming costs. After all, you are paying for it in the long run!

And remember, boys and girls, no “Merry Christmas!” You may offend other shoppers. (I’d horsewhip somebody if I had a horse!)

Does your favorite station go “all Christmas” during the season? Most of the stations that will be listed at http://www.100000watts.com/specials.asp will be serving up canned music from http://www.customchannels.net/christmas.php

At least Custom Channels still says “Christmas!”

I would be VERY INTERESTED in hearing about any local radio station with original Christmas programming, especially if they have an online listen link!

Church Ads dot Net (UK)

ChurchAds.Net’s “Christmas Starts With Christ” 2009 advertising campaign kicks off in September.

Here’s what UK folks may be hearing on the radio or reading on bus stop posters/ads.

In Alabama, a Birmingham station, 96.5, always has Christmas music. They even did Christmas in July. That was awesome! I will try to find out if any of the other stations are going to join in the fun this year and when they are going to start. There was another station that did last year, but I can't remember which one. I will try to find out.
