I don't know. I got the recipe from one of my old co-workers. I will send him an e-mail and see if he knows.

This recipe sounds familiar to one that my mother used to make.

Cool Whip Fruit Salad

7 ingredients

1 pkg. instant vanilla pudding
1 1/3 c. buttermilk
1 sm. container Cool Whip
1 can fruit cocktail, drained
1 can chunk pineapple, drained
1 sm. can mandarin oranges, drained
1 can cherries, drained

Mix pudding mix, buttermilk, and Cool Whip first then add fruit to mixture. Chill before serving.

I've made a very similar fruit salad for years. We call this festive green delight "Church Dinner Fruit Salad" at our house, because I first got the recipe at a church potluck dinner! My version is:

1 pkg. pistachio pudding mix
1 small tub cool whip
1 can fruit cocktail, drained
1/2 pkg. mini marshmallows

Mix the dry pudding mix into the cool whip. Fold in fruit and marshmallows. Chill for at least an hour. Serves 6-8, but recipe can be doubled for larger groups.
