I will do that fresh cut of the trunk.....that was my problem last Christmas.....the tree lost so many needles....even tho it was fresh....the problem was....since I didn´t cut the trunk....the tree...
Weather permitting, the outside lights will go up the first weekend in October. All remaining decorating will be spread across Thanksgiving week. There is something satisfying about hanging the lights when it is still so pleasant out there.
I will do the outside while the weather is nice, then the inside is started the day after Thanksgiving. The outside lights are turned on the day after Thanksgiving.
I have always decorated the inside (tree goes up) first day of Buck season for it helps to keep my mind off the fact that hubby, grandsons and son-in-laws are out in the woods. But I don't do everything in one day, it takes a couple of days.
