Tunis Cake - a Christmas Cake alternative

This year my family had an alternative to Christmas Cake - a 'Tunis Cake'. It's a very buttery (almost like shortbread) style madeira style cake base topped with lots of melted chocolate!

It was invented in the UK in the 40s/50s I think. You used to be able to get them in shops, but you can't anymore, so we made one! (the shop ones also had pink and yellow icing piped as two rings on the top with marzipan fruits in the centre as decorations)

I hope to put a recipe on http://www.whychristmas.com soon
