great!
I have a question about Christmas cake, you know that one made for all kinds of fruits and nuts, I have always wanted to try to make one but cannot decide on a recipe because, well, I never made one before and do not know what it takes to make a really good one.
I would love any advice and perhaps a good recipe please.

I actually don't like fruit cakes so I haven't tried to make one yet. MerryCarey posted a recipe for fruit cake that I haven't tried yet but looks simple enough to make. http://merrychristmasrecipes.com/201...ys-fruit-cake/

I think the key to making these taste good is the wine or brandy that the recipe calls for.

Hope that helps.

If you want to try one a little more like "cake" you can also try the recipe that Sabine offered for Christollen. http://merrychristmasrecipes.com/?s=Christollen

This recipe is a little easier to make and still has most of the fruit and nuts that a fruitcake has. The difference is this is not as dense and is more like a bread or traditional cake.

Thanks for recommending my family's fruitcake recipe, Chef! Friends and neighbors used to beg for part of a cake at Christmastime.
