Christmas Decorations Christmas is a hands-on art. From the lights we put on the house to the decorations we put on the tree to the great foods we eat in the process, Christmas is a time of doing -- and this is the place we gather to talk, plan and share.

The day after Thanksgiving/Black Friday. As much as I love Christmas I will NOT put it up before Thanksgiving. Ever.

I used to put ours up on Thanksgiving Night or that following Friday. This year being that Thanksgiving is on the last week of November I am going to do it one week early.

I usually start my gameroom tree a week or maybe 2 before Thanksgiving so that the day before or day of Thanksgiving I can start the upstairs of the house. I like to have the inside and outside done by the end of Thanksgiving weekend. But, since Thanksgiving is late this year I will start a little earlier because I don't like that there is less than a month from Thanksgiving to Christmas this year so I'll decorate earlier to maximize my Christmas experience!!

Lelly - I think it is wonderful and great that your husband and your little son wanted to put the tree up now!!! That is perfect! It shows how much they love each other, and how much they love Christmas!!! What could be better?

Four year old children couldn't understand the reasoning behind "no, we have to wait." Why wait? It makes the joy and magic last longer!!! It would make me really happy too!

Do whatever makes you and yours happy! In your situation I would probably do exactly what you did.

My brother's 38 and he won't wait to put the tree up. He usually makes me put it up for him on Labor Day weekend but, this year his apartment was getting painted so he had to wait until Oct. I put it up 2 weeks ago for him! He lights it up everynight, it sits right in front of his big picture window.
