492 and not budging

The total number of Christmas stations at http://www.100000watts.com/specials.asp stayed at 490 until a few days ago and will probably hold forth at 492 for 2009.

Don't forget the special programming on public radio. It's probably on right now.

It's also time to get going with plans to listen/record the two twenty-four marathon Christmas shows coming up soon!

(That reminds me, I need to get a definite ruling whether Robert Drake’s “The Night Before on XPN” will return for a seventeenth (?) year.)

"The Night Before On XPN"

Okay, though I still haven’t found anything about it online, Robert Drake’s 24 hour Christmas marathon show, “The Night Before on XPN” will be on the radio. I found out the old fashioned way; I called the station on the telephone!

"The Night Before on XPN" starts midnight Eastern time Christmas Eve (that's this Thursday) and runs twenty-four hours.

Broadcasting in Philadelphia, Central PA, the Lehigh Valley, Harrisburg and Baltimore Maryland

 WXPN 88.5 FM in the greater Philadelphia/South Jersey area
 104.9 FM in the Lehigh Valley
 90.5 FM Worton/Baltimore
 88.7 FM Lancaster/York
 99.7 FM Harrisburg

WXPN is also available worldwide via - http://xpn.org/music-artist/xpn-stream

Jon Solomon on WPRB

WPRB-FM 103.3 MHz
Princeton University
Princeton, New Jersey
"Stereo 103.3"

Like FaLaLaLaLa, WPRB has been experiencing server problems lately. Jon shared a direct link to listen online ( http://listen.wprb.com ) but, sadly, it’s broken as well at this post time.

Missing this annual tradition will be the big disappointment this year if the link is still broken Christmas Eve at 6:00 pm, Eastern!

You folks who live within broadcast range of the station will have it all to yourselves! To see if you qualify, click the coverage map link at

http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin...PRB&service=FM

I'm hoping WPRB's site will be back all the way live in the internet soon! Stay Tuned!

There will be links to both the "live listener chat" and "in-studio webcam" on WPRB's web site day of show.

Thanks.

First Marathon Tonight!

Tonight begins the first 24 Hour Christmas Radio Marathon Show!

“The Night Before On XPN” with host Robert Drake will kick off at midnight Eastern Time

http://www.xpn.org/xpn-programs/holidays/night-before

Robert is very listener interactive with a special chat room, Jingle Cam, and Jingle Line (215-573-WXPN), all available from the above link. If you contact Robert, tell him RadioJonD sent you! I’ll probably pop into the chat once or twice as I find time.

In Progress and Soon to Come!

Don’t forget “The Night Before on XPN” currently playing! A couple of other guys and I just got reprimanded by the host, Robert Drake, for all the “tech talk” in the chat room! Can ya hardly believe it?

Also, make plans to be at WPRB at 6:00 pm for Jon Solomon. I’m sure to show up in his chat room for a bit at some point too. Wonder if Jon will issue cease with the tech talk orders?

Jon Solomon Underway!

Jon Solomon’s legendary 24 Hour Marathon Christmas show has been on the air for a little over two hours now. I’m about to head over to the chat room at WPRB if anyone would like to follow.

Hopefully at least some of you took advantage of some of the over the air programming in these pages. Being that Christmas was on a Friday, some of the commercial stations may continue Christmas music through the weekend, but I highly doubt it.

The two legendary 24 hour Christmas marathon shows have concluded for 2009. I got to record the majority of both shows and listen live for a while. In addition I was able to log in to each chat and hang out a bit. Fun stuff for a tradition!

But, just in case you though that radio would cut you off cold, left over turkey, hold on to your candy canes! It ain’t quite over yet for on air broadcasts!

Regular readers of this thread will, no doubt, be in the know and still tuned online (and maybe on the radio dial) to WCSF from Joliet, Illinois! That’s right, The University of St. Frances radio station still has a whole EIGHT days of Christmas music left!

What are you waiting for? (As always, remember boys and girls, a preposition are a terrible think to end a sentence with.)

WCSF – 88.7 – Joliet, Illinois USA

All Christmas with an online listen link til January 2, 2010!

http://www.stfrancis.edu/content/the...eam/index.html

But wait! That ain’t all! We’ve come full circle! The last portion of WCFS’ Christmas programming consists of back to back airings of the show/item that started this thread back on Rudolph Day, July 25, 2009!

2009 is the Tenth Anniversary of “Christmas Across The Lands” and at post time work is in progress for the eleventh hour of the program to be finished.

But here is the BEST PART!! 2009 Hour One is available for a listen! Check it out! - http://www.christmasacrossthelands.com/

Don’t forget the playlist.
