I just think about all the weight I'll gain if I just decide to not work out anytime I want to. That's usually more than enough motivation for me!

Every day I have the struggle to motivate myself to work out. Some days I'm obedient and will see results. Other days I slack off and lie to myself that I'll double up tomorrow, only to put it off for an entire week. It comes in phases for me.

I used to be really active in high school and while I was in the military, but I'm beginning to notice that my body doesn't handle it as it used to. At 34, my joints ache like crazy each time as I workout and it takes me longer to recover. Knowing that I'll endure that kind of result leaves me uninspired and unmotivated.

At the same time, I've done P90X and Insanity and will vouch that they provide great results...but I've had the tendency to get bored with them after a few months, and so I begin cutting corners and slacking off, shortening workout time and delaying workout days...to the point where I'm no longer doing it. Then I get angry when I gain 20 lbs and the process starts all over again. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Best advice is to find a friend or family member that will motivate you to keep pressing forward, otherwise it is too easy to give up.

I have those thoughts at least once a week, but once I get to the gym I wind up having a great workout and thankful that I went. Sometimes it's hard to work out when you're in pain or discomfort to begin with, but if I don't work those muscles, I'll hurt even more so I push myself forward.

I've indicated before that music is a great motivator for me. Sometimes when I am less enthusiastic than usual about heading to the gym a song will pop into my head to get me there.

Last week, it was "Overture dim the lights ..."

Well, it was the "on with the show, this it!" that drove me into climbing the three flights of stairs to the fitness room.

I definitely have those days where I wake up in the morning and I have to really push myself to workout. I used to go running everyday but when business picks up at work, it's hard to schedule a time to go. I do try and workout twice a day now, in the morning and at night. What I do to keep myself motivated is just tell myself that'll pay off, lol. Exercise is good for anxiety/depression/stress, you feel better, look better, just gotta get in that right set of mind

I struggle with the diet and exercise myself. I'm trying to get back into it now. I tried to get into dancing for exercise and injured my calf muscle again so it's been rough to get moving. I hurt my leg back in Sept. and it keeps coming back. good luck staying motivated. I hope I can get back on track.

I've struggled with my weight for most of my life. It was bad enough that I got bariatric surgery a little over a year ago. So I have to remind myself how hard I fought to get down to just "overweight" and not "obese", and usually the fear of regaining is enough to push me to go work out.

I was getting back to exercising last year but moving house sort of scuppered that. I've eaten like a horse over Christmas so come the second of January it's back to work for me. I want to lose a couple of stone this year as my weight has ballooned over the last 24 months.

I am having one of those days but I will be heading to the gym shortly and making myself workout! I am just so tired but it will do me good. Thanks to my mom I will be going since we joined the gym together and I hate to also see good money go to waste.

Don't procrastinate. Just do it!

What do you do to motivate yourself?

I am lucky that we have a gym / personal trainer onsite at work and it's encouraged to take 30 minutes at least in the middle of your work day to go work out.

In 2012 I really took advantage of this and I've felt about as good as I can remember this year.

Now, if I can only keep the dedication going in 2013.
