santahat Glogg (another type of Mulled Wine)

Here is a recipe that comes from Sweden it is a mulled wine too just a little bit different.

Glögg

Glögg is hot, spiced wine

Ingredients:
  • 1 bottle of red wine (any type you like)
  • 0.5 Liter inexpensive brandy or vodka
  • 10 cardamom pods
  • 1 cinnamon stick (broken down)
  • 5 cloves
  • 1/2 orange peel (dried or fresh)
  • 1/2 lbs sugar (regular or lumps)
  • additions: 1/2 cup raisins/cranberries/etc., 1/2 cup almonds/walnuts/etc., 6 dried figs,
Directions:
Heat the wine, brandy, spices, fruit, and nuts in a pot (and any additions you might like.)
Be careful not to boil the mixture; just let it simmer for about 45 minutes.
Then, strain through a thin cloth (I use a piece of cheese cloth) to remove all additions.
Serve your Glogg hot over lumped sugar (or a tablespoon of regular granulated sugar or to your taste).

This Glogg recipe makes about a 1/2 gallon.
