Happy Halloween - 10/31/2024

And just in case we pick up any new followers this year, let's have a rundown of our very own "Special Days" that we observe in this thread:

JACK O LANTERN DAYS

Beginning in January, at the end of the month, we celebrate "Jack O Lantern Day". I get out the electric Jack O Lantern, burn some fall/ pumpkin wax warmers / candles, and listen to my "Halloween Playlist" that day, before settling in for a mini horror movie marathon to wrap up the day. Some days when the weather cooperates, I even have a small fire in my outside fire pit. This is just my way of adding a little bit of Fall / Halloween to my life, during times in the year where I am really missing Fall. And it really helps. I think some of us here keep the same routine. We do this from January to September before finishing up in "Halloween Season" in September, having safely reached our destination. We originally only did JOL Days on each month that had a 31st, from January - August, but we "expanded" JOL Days due to popular demand last February.

SPOOKY SPRING:

Folks - Spooky Spring is the newest addition to our all year long spooky activities. April is essentially the mirror image of October, and Spooky Spring is celebrated the entire month of April. Basically it is October in April. Scary movie marathons, pumpkin spice everything - Halloween decorations. The cool weather really sets the tone for the month and it leads us right into Halfoween, the grand celebration of reaching the half way point to Halloween.

HALFOWEEN:

The grand celebration of being Halfway to Halloween, reached after the entire month-long celebration of "Spooky Spring". It's like a Jack O Lantern day on steroids. Or Halloween in April, whatever suits your fancy! April 30th! Mark your calendars!

FRIDAY the 13th:

We have TWO Friday the 13ths this coming year. The first one is on September 13th, and the second one is December 13th. It is basically like a Jack O Lantern Day "cheat day", and I usually treat the day as an extra JOL Day and will exclusively watch the Friday the 13th movies! This coming December is special because I have never "observed" a Friday the 13th in December since I usually do not like anything to take away from Christmas Season.

"Halloween Season"

The first day of Fall this coming year is on September 22nd, which is a Sunday. I really doubt that anyone wants to wait that long to officially kick off "Halloween Season", so I propose officially starting "Halloween season" on Monday the 16th. Who says Mondays are no fun?

And that's it! We can get into more specifics as the thread unfolds, but I want to continue the ongoing tradition of interactive content and sort of psuedo-discussions that we have in here. I want to borrow from the awesome Thanksgiving thread where we weekly discuss at least one Thanksgiving thought / topic. This year, Halloween is on a Thursday, so I think beginning on Thursday, January 4th, we will start up with our weekly Halloween thought every Tuesday! This thread is sort of on "easy mode" the next few weeks because I never want to do anything to "cut into" Christmas season, so I won't really be chasing the Halloween milestones "hardcore" until after Christmas has passed!

Thank you all for being here and happy counting!

It has been another great Halloween and Spooky Season. The fresh countdown has begun. I am looking forward to all the JOL days, Spooky Spring, and the countdown to Spooky Season. Unfortunately it has to end, but with that the new cycle starts and hopefully many great new experiences will be added this next year.

Hello, everyone! Happy Halloween! In the distant past, the Celtic people celebrated Samhain, which translates to "summer's end." This marked the conclusion of the Celtic year, somewhat like our New Year's Eve. Over time, this celebration evolved into the Halloween we all hold dear. As we know, the New Year inspires resolutions, and this year, my Samhain New Year's resolution is to become an active participant in this thread. I first stumbled upon these forums thanks to @SolidSnake84 and have been quietly lurking in the shadows for over three years. In fact, there hasn't been a day that I can recall that I haven't visited these forums!

Halloween and Christmas hold a special place in my heart. In an often dark childhood, they were always a bright light, all thanks to my wonderful grandparents. With the knowledge that those cherished times can never be relived, my current motivation and enthusiasm for the holidays stem from a deep desire to experience those holiday feels of the past, even if only for a fleeting moment.

As I write this, I'm basking in the warm glow of the three jack-o'-lanterns I carved last night. It's hard to express how sad I am that Halloween is coming to a close. Thanks to the Halloween Countdown thread, I've had Halloween on my mind every day of the year, and my excitement has been building since July. To console myself, I remind myself that Christmas is just around the corner, and the warm glow from my jack-o'-lanterns will soon be replaced by the twinkle of Christmas lights.

I have to admit that introducing myself to everyone here feels a bit odd because, despite being the 'new guy' around here, it's as if I've known all of you for ages! Anyways, I look forward to becoming an active participant in this thread and sharing in all those special days and milestones with you all. Thank you all for being here, and I'd like to extend an extra special thanks to SolidSnake84 for keeping that jack-o'-lantern candle lit and burning brightly all 365 days of the year. Halloween 2024 here we come!

Welcome aboard. I lurked for awhile and never regret coming out and posting which has been many years ago now. There are many great people in here who share the same love being for Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or the entire Bers. There are so many great threads in here to enjoy for whatever your holiday preference may be.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Welcome to Day #1 of the new countdown! We have a leap year this year so today truly begins the new set of countdowns. And look at them all! I decided last night to add an additional countdown, that one being the "Days to Fall Pre-Season" count. I don't think we had it as a countdown last year, but it was fun counting down to August as well, "Fall Preseason", a month many of us enjoy here and for me begins the transformation over to full-time Fall and Halloween Decorations, shows, etc...

We're going to hit some milestones this week. And it's going to be great, because the wheel of time is always moving. In this thread we always have something to look forward to, Halloween and Fall is always on its way. I like to refer to these first couple of days after Halloween ends as the "Halloween Afterglow".

It probably really won't hit me until later when I start taking down the Halloween decorations that it's "over" for another year. Thank goodness for Jack O Lantern Days and our milestones.

Have a great day!

So I thought I would share some pics that I took this year that I think really sums up the spirit of Autumn / Halloween 2023.

I put on a soundtrack as well from my PCB's playlist, for an instant dose of feels seeing these pictures this morning!

Burnt Sky.jpgHalloween yard.jpgLeaves on Path.jpgOpequon Church.jpgSide Yard.jpg

And this picture below is not taken by me, but was posted on Reddit as "the morning after" Halloween. You can just see such emptiness and the foggy scene is just surreal. Almost looks like a movie set:

Have a great Wednesday, try and enjoy this "Halloween Afterglow" for a few more days!

The page is so full again! Lol. I know Halloween takes a back seat now to enjoy the final 2 of the big 3, but it always stays in my heart.

Since we are mid week the inside Halloween decorations will stay up for the weekend until they are put away. I am going to take down the couple of outside Halloween decorations down today and turn it back over to just fall decor until it switched over to Christmas in a few weeks.

It probably really won't hit me until later when I start taking down the Halloween decorations that it's "over" for another year. Thank goodness for Jack O Lantern Days and our milestones.

Have a great day!
Happy to see the new countdown added since I enjoy referring to August as "Halloween Awareness Month," which makes this perfect! Thanks for all you do to keep this forum going!

Evening Halloween Fans! The new thread! Wow 2024? I can't think about Halloween 2024. Can I? Well, one thing I personally want to improve on this year is to get into Spooky Spring. I really believe spring is underrated and is the perfect time to celebrate Halloween. Happy Halloween!

Easter falls in March this year so no distractions for a whole month of Spooky Spring in April.
